Update #5

When Megann first visited with her doctor at MD Anderson, she encouraged Megann to go on a trip now while she's feeling up to it (before treatments, etc). So, Megann's extended family sent her on a trip to Savannah! Megann went with her sister and cousin. They stayed at the Hamilton Turner Inn which use to be an early mayor of Savannah's house. It was the first house to receive electricity in Savannah. They also visited The Lady & Sons restaurant, which is owned by Paula Deen from The Food Channel. Megann loves Paula Deen! Megann's sister also arranged for Megann to receive a signed copy of one of Paula Deen's cookbooks! She is very blessed to have such wonderful family members that care for her so much. I know she is very grateful for the trip.

Megann received her second round of chemo yesterday (Friday). This time Megann should be feeling much more energetic because the doctors discovered that she was very anemic (.5 away from needing a transfusion!). This explains why she has been so lethargic lately. They gave her a shot, and today she feels better and has a lot more energy! Please continue to pray that God will completely heal Megann. She also starts back to work this Friday. Please pray for her stamina, immune system, and for this to be a non-stressful year for her!

Hey Megann,
I'm glad you got to get away and have a nice trip. Sometimes we just need those mental, emotional, and physical breaks. I pray that yours was refreshing and uplifting. We know they are important because even Jesus took time to get away and rest. I hope that you will continue to take that time for yourself even when you go back to work. Listen to your body and take that much needed time to rest when you need to. If Jesus saw a need to "get away", then we need to learn to listen and do it too. I pray that you have the strength you need to go about your work and the wisdom to know when to take time away. Remember, your main job is to get healed...so don't worry about taking off if you need the rest. Don't I sound just like a mom? Well, I am a mom, a sister, and a teacher and I just know how easily we can wear ourselves out and I want you to give yourself permission to take breaks from the day to day to take care of you. Wearing yourself out is not going to equip you with what you need to get to the final goal...complete healing. You are too precious of a lady for me not to speak these hard words to. People love you and we will help carry the burden for you financially, etc should you need to allow yourself a break down the line from work. Tatia had to do it and you may need to too... let us help carry that burden if it comes. Don't rob us of that blessing for you. I just want you to know that you have permission to do that. This journey may be long and hard, and you have a whole network it looks like willing to help. Remember scripture says, "in my weakness, he is made complete." Through the journey of cancer time and time again with Tatia I found myself saying more and more, "I can't, but I know you can." I believe that when we lay ourselves, our burdens, our frustrations, our weaknesses down we give him permission to pick them up and take them. "Less of me and more of Him"... it just seems to work!!! May you find that beautiful balance in your life as you walk this journey. May you find and embrace the moments when you are to be strong, and may you allow yourself the moments you're allowed to be weak. May you allow us to help with the in between. And, may you NEVER forget... that you are not alone!! I love you sweet sister, Lisa

Hey Megann,
I'm glad to read that you had a little getaway. You have been on my mind and in my prayers daily. I recently went to a GE conference in Edmond and talked to several of your GE buddies. They wanted you to know how much they care about you and are praying for you. I hope the school year goes great for you - praying for an easy group of kids this year!!!! I 've already seen my class list and am excited about this year in first grade. Stay strong - I know you will. I love you.

Hey Megann,
Well I'm sitting in my classroom on our lunch break from inservice...ugh! We are already back and as I was sitting here I was thinking of you, and I was thinking about a song by Mark Harris about life and how we live it. We really don't know exactly what all God has in store for us, but we can, if we wish, live each day, each breath, each moment to its fullest. Tatia and I always say that each day is a gift ready to unwrap. I know you believe that too. So, what do you say, lets make the most of every day. If today you teach, make the most of it, if today you rest, make the most, if today you get chemo, make the most, if you love your husband, if you talk to a friend, if you read a book... we CHOOSE to make the most of it.. After all "this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." I pray that each day you are ready for the wonderful adventure God has for you that moment. May you embrace it, love it, live it, with everything you have. Hope his song speaks to you!

I was waiting for a push, waiting for a sign
Waiting for the perfect moment to arrive
Steady as a clock, caught between the line
Living for myself until I realized
There's too much life You've given me
To let it slip away

Chorus:
I'm ready to live, ready to breathe
Ready to take in everything
I'm ready to love, ready to shine
Ready to live this life of mine
I'm ready to jump, ready to fly for the first time

I want to take a dive, I want to take a chance
I want to make the most of every day I have
I want to be alive, I want to be a man
'Cause being wild at heart is really who I am

You've put these dreams inside of me
So what can hold them back

Chorus

I can feel it
Being pushed by Bigger Hands
You have saved me
You have made me who I am

Sweet Megann, God has made you His and He has placed dreams inside of you to reach for....keep reaching, keep dreaming, keep loving, keep living. Hope you have a wonderful school start. May each day be filled with the wonder, the breathe, the life that only He can give. I love ya. And remember, you are never alone!!!

Please let me know if I can help you in anyway. Love you guys!

Dear Megann,
From those beautiful smiles, it looks like you had a great trip. We thank God for the iron shot and trip to renew your spirits. We're so pleased that you are able to return to work. We will continue to pray for God to fill you up with strength and joy to glorify Him. His way of taking pain and using it for good is so confusing, but we can see it in the lives you are touching. We pray that God will heal you completely (preferably soon) and that He will continue to make you aware of His love and presence--not only through your family and friends, but also with a true assurance of His Spirit in you. We ask that He will fill you with peace and joy each day.

"For I am the Lord, your God,
who takes hold of your right hand
and says to you, 'Do not fear;
I will help you.'" Isaiah 41:13

Love, Wes and Jane

Hey Megann,
Me again. I spent the day with Tatia enjoying the nice heat at Lake Lewisville. I just got home and I was having some quiet time when I came across some verses and I thought of you. I'm reading a book right now about prayer and it was talking about the power of praying God's word over you. Some verses just stuck out. The main part was about Psalm 91 and the power that is in God's word there and how we should pray it over ourselves and our children. Verse 3 says... "Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare, and from the deadly pestilence." Well, cancer seems like a pestilence to me. It is definitely a "pest". But, God tells us that he will save us and other scripture confirms it. 2 Peter 2:24 says: "Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--- by whose stripes you were healed. And, Psalm 107:20 says "He sent his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." So Megann, I'm praying God's word over you and my sister. I chose to believe that his word is a healing word. And, I believe that God is able to deliver you from destruction... because his son's stripes bring healing. Sleep well tonight knowing that God is watching over and healing you. And when you feel defeated just read Psalm 91... you'll feel empowered by our awesome God. Always remember, you are never alone! I love ya! Lisa
